The minutes of the November 8, 2005, meeting were approved as posted on the website.
A membership update was
given. We now have 43 paid members. Jim
Mayer reported that he would print membership cards and try to have them available at the February meeting.
Matt McCreery passed out
samples of brochure he has prepared for the club. He is going to print the brochure
in color and make it available for distribution.
The club approved ordering 500 decals from Velvetex in Columbia.
Sam Jones reported that
the fishing logs, for use by all fishermen who are willing to report their catch to DNR, are available on the website. He urged all of us to print copies and have them available. He noted that they must be printed using Adobe. Sam also noted
that the use of the website continues to rise.
Matt McCreery agreed to provide a deposit box for placement near the ramp at Jocassee. This box would be used for fishermen to place their logs in, so that they could be removed by DNR.
Tom McInnis, South
Carolina counsel member for Trout Unlimited (TU), gave a most interesting talk on the work of Trout
Unlimited both in South Carolina and elsewhere.
He presented many details about the work TU is doing to restore and preserve trout habitat. He encouraged all of us to support the work of TU, especially as they assist the DNR in doing fish surveys
and in constructing projects to restore trout habitat in South Carolina.
It was suggested that the
February, March and April meetings be held on Thursdays before the trout tournaments in those months. Matt McCreery is to work on this schedule.
There being no further
business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
James C. Williams, Jr.
Secretary
